The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has alleged that lab reports from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam indicate that the famous Tirupati laddus contain "beef tallow, fish oil," and other inferior ingredients, sparking controversy among devotees and in the state. The alleged lab report also mentioned the presence of "lard" (pig fat) in the samples. These samples were sent to a livestock laboratory in Gujarat, with the sample receipt dated July 9, 2024, and the lab report dated July 16.

Following the lab reports, TDP spokesperson Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy stated, “The lab reports confirm that beef tallow, animal fat (lard), and fish oil were used in the preparation of ghee supplied to Tirumala, and the S value is only 19.7.”

Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy stated, “CM Chandrababu Naidu mentioned yesterday that animal fat was used as an ingredient in the ghee supplied to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. The lab reports from samples sent for testing to the National Dairy Development Board in Gujarat confirm that beef tallow, animal fat (lard), and fish oil were used in the preparation of this ghee, and the S value is only 19.7.”

“This is an affront to the Hindu religion. The 'prasadam' offered to the Lord three times a day has been mixed with this ghee. We hope that justice will be served, and that Lord Govind will forgive us for any mistakes that have been made,” the TDP spokesperson stated.

However, there has been no confirmation from either the Andhra Pradesh government or the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the renowned Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple.

The allegations surfaced on September 18, when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu claimed that the previous YSRCP government, led by Jagan Reddy, used substandard ingredients and animal fat in the preparation of Tirupati laddu. The YSRCP has dismissed all these allegations.
